On May 26, 2023, the sustainability team of Shell visited Baidu and engaged in discussions on Baidu’ goal to achieve carbon neutral, as well as exchanges on key issues including green electricity purchase, the construction of renewable power stations, energy conservation renovation of data centers.

At the event, Shell shared its experience in green power market trading, offshore wind power projects, replacement of traditional diesel with biodiesel, and immersion cooling technologies. Baidu also highlighted its future plans to sign long-term green power supply agreements with renewable energy power plants, and its consideration of relocating data centers to areas rich in renewable energy resources. The two sides had in-depth discussions on planning of energy conservation renovation programs of data centers and the empowerment of low-carbon development within the groups.

Thanks to full communication, experts from Shell expressed a deeper understanding of Baidu’s carbon neutrality progress and follow-up plans, and looked forward to subsequent detailed discussions on specific topics, thus creating more cooperation opportunities between the two sides in the field of green and sustainable development.
