Low-Carbon Cities: Baidu AI Cloud Built A City Brain In Haidian District Beijing

Baidu facilitated the construction of a "City Brain"in Haidian District,Beijing.Using Al as the core,the "City Braingathered data resources from each area of the city to regulate carbon emissions and achieve low-carbon operations.This enabled the provision of support for optimizing low-carbon policies and achieving global coordination of urban green governance.

Supervision of Urban Carbon Emissions

·By monitoring and analyzing the air pollution,river pollution,and bare land using remote sensing data in conjunction with the point data from air and water quality monitoring stations to trace the source of emvironmental pollution;

·By using Al technology to automatically identify pain points in urban environmental management such as littering,out-of-store operations,and garbage exposure,we are able to supervise,report,distribute,and dispose of such violations,thus reducing the carbon emissions generated from these activities;

·By using algorithm identification,we are able to accurately capture illegal and high- pollution vehicles,as well as muck vehicles involved in illegal dumping,in to eliminate illegal emissions from key vehicles;

·Monitoring dust in real time with Al technology to prevent environmental pollution.

Urban Low-Carbon Management

·Constructing urban operation monitoring system through sensors,roadside intelligent devices,and Internet technologles to collect data of each urban application scene, with the urban perceptual neural network supporting the analysis and decision- making of carbon emission data by the "City Brain";

`Building Al computing centers with Baidus deep learning platform,PaddlePaddle,to provide basic computing algorithm support in a unified and centralized way,decrease repeated investment and construction,and indirectly reduce carbon emission intensity.

Facilitating Carbon Emission-Reduction Policy Optimization

·Based on our extensive data and algorithm accumulation,Baidu has analyzed factors such as passenger flow,motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles to improve transport efficiency and reduce carbon emissions generated by traffic congestion.We continuously learn and optimize our analysis to aid in the design,implementation and iteration of application policies.
