Baoshan section and Langfang section of the Beijing-Harbin Expressway are important transportation channels connecting North and Northeast China. In 2022, Baidu and Hebei Expressway Group jointly launched the Beijing-Harbin Expressway Intelligent Construction Project to improve both the intelligence and informatization management level of expressways.
Traffic Efficiency Improvement
Baidu has implemented intelligent sensing equipment along the Beijing-Harbin Expressway. This involves utilizing radar video and integrating core technology breakthroughs of the sensing system to achieve road condition monitoring, real-time vehicle tracking, abnormal event alarming, and surveillance video linkage. The integration of these functions is expected to improve the average traffic efficiency by over 10%, reducing congestion and minimizing the associated carbon emissions.
"Quasi-All-Weather" Access
To address climate change and minimize the restrictions of extreme weather on the traffic of vehicles on the expressway an environmental condition sensing system will be built in Baidus Beijing-Harbin Expressway Intelligent Construction Project under the radar video fusion sensing system to provide information warning and guidance services for vehicles on the expressway. This will ensure the traffic of vehicles is safe under certain bad weather conditions. The project will involve constructing a "quasi-all-weather access" demonstration road over 200 kilometers.
